Girls interested in science — especially sharks, skates and rays — are invited to a free meeting of the Gills Club from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th at Mote Marine Laboratory. The meeting includes hands-on activities based on current research and the introduction of a researcher.
Mote is partnering with Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, which created the Gills Club, to bring science to more girls in our community. The Gills Club is geared toward girls ages 6-17, and families are also welcome.
This month we continue our series celebrating some fin-tastic women of marine science. Gills will learn about some of the incredible accomplishments of some famous historical female marine scientists and do fun science based activities.
Participation in the Gills Club events is free but does not cover visiting Mote Aquarium. RSVP is required for all meetings of the Gills Club and children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is taken on a first come, first served basis and will close the Friday before the event at 5:00 p.m. (or sooner if we reach maximum capacity).
Registration for this event will open on September 1, 2016.
